About Us
Grassy Creek Farm is owned and operated by the McMillin and Kahle families. We were originally located in Perrysburg, OH where the new Costco is now located. Our farm was part of the Perrysburg landscape for generations. Although the first horses on the farm were work horses, we (sisters, Sheila & Sharon Eckel) got our first pleasure horses in 1971 and have expanded both in horses and knowledge since then. Grassy Creek opened to the public for riding lessons and as a boarding stable circa 1976 when Sheila graduated high school and opted to get an Equestrian Studies degree from the University of Findlay and make horses her career. Despite getting college degrees in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, Sharon decided to stay in the horse busines too.
Over the years we expanded to a two stable campus which became the home base for the Rough Riders 4-H club, one of the oldest and largest in Wood County. In 2014, we sold our original farm and started two separate stables (only a few miles apart), still carrying the Grassy Creek/McMillin Farm (Sheila & family) and Grassy Creek Farm Riding Stable (Sharon & family) names. Although none of our original pleasure horses are left, some of their progeny still live on at our new farms.
Come see us... we'd love to show you around! |
